BEST Employment joined Perkbox while they were going through a stand down process due to COVID-19. “Even though they weren't at work, we wanted to make sure we were promoting that we do value our employees,” says Julie.
In addition to the challenge of the pandemic, Julie says the organisation wanted to move towards being an employer of choice, and have Perkbox’s additional benefits as part of their standard employment package.
Julie wanted to support all of BEST Employment's locations by introducing a more unified and inclusive program.
Julie says Perkbox was the right provider due to the user friendly interface and mobile app, making it accessible for everyone in the team, no matter where they were.
“It's easy for everyone to login and see what's available. The variety covers our geographical area; someone in Lightning Ridge might not have a local Woolworths or Coles but they can still use the online shopping perks. There's no one in our organisation that couldn't find something that interests them.”
Julie says her Customer Success Manager, Harriet, is a huge help, providing monthly themes and resources to help engage the BEST Employment team.
Employee health and wellbeing
Julie and BEST's executive team believed the health and wellbeing offering was “an opportunity to really support our team with these perks.”
BEST previously ran health and wellbeing initiatives but they found these to be laborious and resource-draining. With the mental and physical health perks provided through the platform, and a month long themed calendar provided by the Perkbox Customer Success team, “it went from being quite a number of hours getting our own health and wellness initiative set up to going, ‘cool, it's all done for us, this is what we're doing for the month’. From a cost perspective, it's really worked for us.”
Appreciation amongst the team
When considering how the organisation has changed since introducing Perkbox, Julie says “there's definitely an appreciation of the additional benefits that Perkbox offers.”
Two stories of Perks usage stands out amongst the BEST Employment team.
An office romance led to two staff members eloping recently, and the beautiful bride used Perkbox to purchase her wedding dress through THE ICONIC. It's a testament to how much variety and value you can get out of the platform, and there's no question that they'll save even more on their future date nights with Perks.
Another heartwarming story comes from Kate, who is a strong advocate for Perkbox internally. Kate used Photobox to create a custom book for a family member’s baby shower which was cancelled by COVID-19. Kate asked each of her family members to contribute a page towards a ‘my first ABCs’ style picture book with hand drawn illustrations.
Julie juggles much more than employee experience and she has great ambitions for the team. In the coming months, she’ll be introducing a new HR system to support managers and her HR team. She’ll also be looking at learning and development, succession planning, and attraction and retention of staff, “there's lots on the list. It's just prioritising.”
