The challenges
Amanda says the business has traditionally seen exceptional retention in staff, despite the care industry being a taxing one, “By the nature of the work, employees in the industry are really selfless people who work really hard”.
The workforce is split between administrative, hotel services, and the care and support staff. As a 24/7 service, there’s also a split between day and night teams. Catering to such a diverse workforce is difficult, and being able to offer benefits that work for everyone, especially the night team, is top of mind for Amanda and her team.
Finally, recommendations from the recent Royal Commission into Aged Care will focus on the Workforce. Amanda says “Perkbox has a big role to play in all of those things”, particularly in the attraction and retention of staff, “More and more people will be leaving the sector because it's just too hard, we look for tools that we can use to say 'we're an employer of choice and this is why you should come work for us'."
The results
Amanda and her team decided on Perkbox as “The platform is really simple and ticked all the boxes of what we needed. It is quite user friendly and simple so it works well with an older workforce.”
Within just three months, Maurice Zeffert Home employees have made good use of the platform, already saving $5,200 through 220 perks.
Amanda says one of their goals is to get the managers more consistently using Recognition with their teams. Currently they hold monthly sessions that include promoting Perkbox, and have employees who champion Perkbox, spreading the word on how to use it and what promotions are currently running amongst their colleagues.
Amanda notes that they see an uptake in activity on Perkbox whenever they do an internal push or promotion. The monthly competitions on the platform in particular create buzz and banter amongst the team, and when an employee is sent recognition they receive a token to spend at the residents kiosk.
