Megan Elliott & Aileen Prendergast

Cheraine Ncube

Director of Human Resources at Sea Containers Hotel

Why we chose Cheraine

Cheraine truly loves her job and her passion for people is obvious. She channels this into ensuring equal opportunities for all, pushing cultural awareness as a large part of her overall wellbeing strategy.

What’s your ‘why’? How do you balance work and life responsibilities to fulfil it?

Passion is my why! I love what I do and that’s why it’s not a juggling act – it happens seamlessly. I genuinely care about my team and their wellbeing, so being there for them is extremely important to me.

Can you explain an initiative you've implemented that has made an impact in your workplace?

We are an equal opportunities company, however, I felt the need to still raise awareness about a wide range of topics from cultural awareness to wellbeing. We started this late last year and we continue with various activities around the hotel to get the teams really aware of what’s going on around them.

As a female leader, what have been the most significant barriers in your career?

Being listened to and respected in such a male-dominated industry.

What advice would you give to the next generation of female leaders?

Have passion, strength and conviction! If you believe it and it is the right thing, then go for it!!
