What HR are looking forward to in 2021
2020 was a helluva year. So much so in fact, we don’t even need to spend time recapping what happened. We’re all aware and we’re all keen to look forward to the positives which will hopefully start to emerge in the second half of the year.
So what can we expect from 2021 from an HR perspective? We’ve surveyed 301 business leaders from across the UK to get clarity on where businesses currently are, how they align with the big trends of the year and what we all need to do to make 2021 a success.
What’s promising for us is the overwhelming sense of optimism and positivity towards 2021. Almost two thirds (65%) of business leaders are feeling positive about the success of their business in 2021 compared to in 2020.
That mindset appears to be influencing potential motivation levels in 2021 too. Almost 3 in 5 (58%) of business leaders feel their employees were motivated in 2020, but over 7 in 10 (73%) respondents predict their employees will be motivated in 2021!
We also asked what people are most looking forward to in 2021, with 93% of business leaders looking forward to at least one thing in 2021. The full rundown of what they’re most looking forward to is as follows:
- Seeing colleagues in person: 39%
- Returning to work feeling recharged and refreshed: 39%
- Continuing to work from home: 33%
- Taking on more responsibility: 28%
- Being less busy and having more time to spend with family/friends: 26%
- Welcoming new hires from business growth in 2020: 25%
- Opportunity to find a new job: 13%
- There isn't anything I'm looking forward to most in 2021: 7%
